2007 North Coast Regional Regional Wrap-up
Well the March 2007 North Coast Regional and the
Clock and Watch Show are now history.
On March 10, we had our regular Regional,
co-hosted by Chapter 10. It was well attended by over 450 registered
members. The exhibit this year was entitled "Grandma's Clocks" Two
educational programs were held. One, by Tom Borkowski and Everett Jones
was titled "Setting Up to Repair Your Own Clock", and the other program was
by Dick Sims " Cutting Glass". Both were well attended. There several
silent auctions that went on all day with a large variety of timepieces.
The Breakfast Banquet was enjoyed by 58 folks
who liked the idea of getting out of bed to a scrumptious buffet and door
prizes. Whether it was for the food or the door prizes, those attending had
a great time.
On Sunday, Chapter 28 changed their hat and
hosted the first Clock and Watch Show, for the public, at the Lakeland
Community College in Kirtland, Ohio. There were about 200 folks come to see
and buy items from our tables. Some folks brought in their valuable watches
or clocks to have one of our members evaluate them. During the day, several
silent auctions were held and 2 educational programs were held (1) by Tom
Borkowski and Everett Jones on "Setting Up to Repair Your Own Clock", and
(2) David Martin's "From Junk to Just Beautiful -A Lesson in Case
Polishing".
During the Clock and Watch Show there were 2
drawings for clocks. The winner of the Sessions Bim-Bam was Ron Ilc and the
winner of the child's clock was Markus Kotze, age 10.
Many members considered the weekend a great
idea and have stated that they would like to do this again next year.
A note from the Chairman of the Regional, Dick
Sims: " I wish to thank anyone who had even the smallest job in putting on
this weekend. With your help, I believe it was a big success. Many
thanks."
