Monthly Chapter Meetings

Chapter 28 holds regular chapter business meetings and marts during the months of January, March, July, September and November. Chapter meetings are typically held on the second Sunday of the month at a local area hotel or college.

The Chapter also co-sponsors the May regional meeting. See the link below for more details.

Note from the Secretary: -- With the Regional and National coming up in a few months, now is the time to check to see if your membership card is up-to-date. If it isn't, you might not be permitted to enter the events. Take out your wallet and see if you are current with you membership.

If you are filling out pre-registrations for the Regional, National, or any of the activities during these events, PLEASE PLEASE write them out completely and as clearly as possible. Your registration might have to be "pitched out" if it isn't filled out properly. Secretaries often use "colorful" language when they can't read or cipher someone's writing!!!

Regular Meeting Schedule

Date:            Sunday March 14, 2010

Time:            Doors open at 8 AM until Noon

Location:     Holiday Inn Strongsville - Route 82 at Interstate 71

Fees:            All members and guests, $7.00 per person
                    Guests may not make any purchases or participate in silent auctions.

Luncheon: $13 per person with paid admission ($20 total); begins shortly after the mart closes.

Table Fees: Mart tables - First one is free!   Additional tables are $5 each.

Silent Auction: 9 AM until announced closing between 10:30 and 11:00 AM.

Programs:

---During the Mart, “Panel of Experts” will have a question and answer session about anything having to do with clocks – repairs, movements, cases, problems, etc. Our panel of experts will be: Tom Barrett, Tom Borkowski, Frank Del Greco, Everett Jones and Stan Kaufman.

---After the lunch, Frank Del Greco will present “Restoration of a Clock Drive for a Warner and Swasey Telescope”. Telescopes use clock drives to follow the stars across the sky. Before the advent of reliable synchronous electric motors, mechanical clock mechanisms were used. This presentation will cover the restoration of such a clock drive that still powers a 9 inch diameter Cooley telescope, built by Warner and Swasey, at the Hiram College Stephens observatory

Repairman's List - The secretary and other officers get calls from the public wanting to find a good clock or watch repairman in their area. If you are a repairman and want your name added to a "referral" list, contact Ginny Sims, secretary.

Email Addresses - The secretary also wants to remind the membership to inform her if your email address changes!

NorthCoast Regional

The 2010 North Coast Regional will be held at Lakeland Community College in Kirtland Ohio May 20 - 22. Chapter 28 co-hosts the annual NorthCoast Regional with NAWCC Chapter 10. Follow this link for details of this year's event.
